Bleaching your hair platinum blonde can be quite the process. I went from a dark brown to an almost white, platinum blonde colour and it took me two times to get the proper colour.
The first time I did it myself at home and the second I got it professionally done. If you are looking to bleach your hair at home, read bellow and
BLEACHING YOUR HAIR
Bleaching your hair requires two steps. First, you must bleach your hair then apply a toner to tone down the brassiness.
Bleach clean, dry hair. Follow the instructions in the kit. Generally, this involves mixing a dry bleach powder with a liquid activator. Apply this to your hair and let bleach for about 40 minutes (refer to the instructions). Do not bleach longer than 45 minutes in one sitting.
Bleach: Blonde Brilliance Hair Lightening Kit
The next step will be the toner. Once your hair is finished bleaching, rinse out the bleach thoroughly. You don't want any bleach left in your hair. Toner is made from ammonia, and you do not want to mix that with bleach! Also, don't be afraid if your hair is brassy or slightly orange, the toner will remove this.
Mix 1 part toner to 2 part developer and apply to hair. Apply toner for 20-30 minutes then rinse and dry.
Toner: Wella Color Charm, Liquid Hair Toner in T18
Developer: Salon Care, 10 Volume Creme Developer
That's it, you're done! Depending on how dark your hair originally was, you may need to repeat this process. If you do, I suggest giving your hair a day or two to recover.
MAINTAINING YOUR HAIR
Bleaching can cause damage and dry out your hair. Below are all the products I use to keep my hair healthy. You also will want to use a purple shampoo at least once a week to keep your hair from going brassy.
1. Shampoo: Kevin Murphy, Stimulate-Me Wash
2. Conditioner: Davines, NouNou
3. Purple Shampoo: Clairol, Shimmer Lights (for blonde & silver)
4. Oil: One-N Only, Moroccan Argan Oil
